As for most Sites, there are Rules that must be followed in order for an application to be accepted. Without Rules, there'd be nothing more than chaos on our hands. To avoid this chaos we implore you to read our [SITE RULES].
Character Creation must also be followed by a certain amount of Rules, which follow. Please also note, you are required to meet the minimum requirements set forth in the application template.
The first step in creating a character is to [REGISTER] for an Account and Validate the E-Mail sent to your personal E-Mail Account.
Afterwards, finding the correct Application Template is of utmost importance. Follow this link if you'd like to be a [ORIGINAL CHARACTER] or a [CANON CHARACTER].
CHARACTER RULES
CREATION
All characters must each be on their own, separately registered accounts and your character's First and Last names in proper capitals should be your display name. To apply for a Second Character, Members must wait (and be active for) TWO WEEKS before the application will be considered by a Member of The Administration Team. Consecutive Characters must wait a Full TWO WEEKS each before they will be considered.
Applications may be denied based on the activity of previous characters created.
We allow for a certain amount of canon on our site. However, it is all on a first come, first served basis. The Administrative Team will determine whether a surname is plausible for a character is also shared with a character from the Harry Potter Series. There should be no character with the same first AND last names as a celebrity, artist, musician, actor or actress, model, a television character, and/or character from another book, play, or movie.
While a person may apply for a character with special circumstances, a character may or may not be accepted. In choosing to be a creature (or having origins of one), one must consider the history, the choices and sacrifices made by others around the created character, and how the character fits into society with all the on-goings recently in the Wizarding World.
The ONLY Creatures The Administrative Team are willing to consider are as follows:
Werewolf
Vampire
Veela
Giant
Centaur
Muggle Characters may not be Creatures, though may request Werewolf Status.
The Administrative Team reserves all rights to deny or put on hold all special circumstance characters at any point in time if we feel we are being overrun with such characters.
As with special circumstances, The Administrative Team must also consider special abilities (Legilimens, Occlumency, Seer, Animagi, and Metamorphmagi), which may be placed on Restrictions at any time. Muggles may not hold any of these positions.
FACECLAIMS
Keep in mind, first to post a face claim, is the first to claim the face! Just because you use a certain face in your app, doesn't necessarily mean you can keep it. If you see that someone has already reserved that face in the claim, it means THEY have ownership of the face, so you will be responsible for changing yours. Remember, you can reserve a face for up to three(3) days, so if you know you definitely want to be ex: Ryan Reynolds, reserve his face while you are completing the application, that way nobody can swoop in and claim him! Once your reserve is up, you either need to re-reserve if you're still working on the app, or if your app has been accepted, you'll need to post the actual claim. A RESERVE DOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY CLAIM THE FACE, IT RESERVES IT WHILE YOU'RE WORKING ON THE APP! If you're playing a canon character, you must use their original actor/actress from the movies. No exceptions.
REALITY
Please maintain a certain amount of reality when creating your character. Yes, we know how this sounds considering we are a site based on fantasy and science fiction writing, but all characters that are created have a basis in reality, no matter their genres. It is what makes people so drawn to particular characters.
Every person has flaws, so include them in your Role Playing! Really, it makes every character more interesting to not only RP with but to RP as well. In other words, NO MARY SUEs or GARY STUs! Don't be super-human, everyone has their Achilles heel, and, therefore, should be acted out as such.
Also, for all characters, please consider the age and how well the character will perform spells and charms. No one can go in on the first day and perform a perfect spell. Someone may come close, but not even Hermione Granger was perfect, she was just very, very good. It takes a lot of effort to be so well trained in spell casting, so please, be REALISTIC! All first-year students do NOT have to be 11 years of age, but they ARE first years. However, the maximum age a character can be to attend Hogwarts as a first year for our site will be 16 years of age.
CHARACTER RETIREMENT
If your character is retired it is up to The Administrative Team to decide what has happened to him or her. More than likely your character will have passed away, or transferred to another school or area in the world, or be used for plot purposes.
If your character has been retired for more than four months, the character will not be allowed to return to the site. They will have moved on with their lives, as we do in Real Life and the plots will also move on without them.
KILLING OTHER CHARACTERS
Your character cannot murder another character unless you have their and Administration's full permission. You wouldn't want someone killing off your character because it would mean the end of that character on the site.
MARRIAGES AND PREGNANCIES
Any two adults of legal wizarding age have the right to get married, but we ask that you inform The Admin of your plans so that we may update any rosters and records that we have. Hogwarts Professors may be married. Students may not wed anyone (of age or their own age).
Pregnancies are allowed for Adult Characters (i.e. characters outside of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry), but we ask they be reported to The Administrative Account. If a surplus of pregnancies occurs, we will put a hold on said pregnancies. All parents may choose the sex of their own child unless there is a surplus of one gender versus another on the site and we need to place a limit.
THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND
Remember this site maintains a PG-13 Rating, required by JCINK. While we do allow some Mature Content (for Adult characters), it is a fine line to follow without dipping your feet into the area we do not allow and will not tolerate. If you don't know how to tread in the gray area, then just don't do it.
Students begin Hogwarts the first Monday in September, this is when they become a First Year or advance.
We know playing the character coming out of the woodwork is difficult, but you can establish relationships with other characters by posting in our Character Development Board or by simply PMing others in or around your year.
The History of your character should coincide with correct timelines. Please Read through the Daily Prophet and be semi-familiar with the Harry Potter series written by JK Rowling. Do not include events that your character would not have been around to witness or partake in.
APPLICATION FORMATTING
Application Subjects should be in the format of Surname, First Name of your character.
Do not Re-Format Your Application. If it is Re-Formatted, you will be asked to reapply with the template we have given before any Member of the Administrative Team will even look at the rest of your application.
APPLICATION PROCESS
All new applications must be completed within 14 days and created in the Pending Characters board. If it is not completed within the 14 days, it will be moved locked and your account will be marked Inactive. You may role play more than one character. You have to go through the application process for each of them and make separate accounts.
Applications will be read and replied to as soon as possible. Please do not bug The Administrative Team to read your application for acceptance, as we take our time going through applications and making sure everything is in order (and we have real lives to attend to).
Applications that have not been Fixed within a week after a PM with corrections that must be made will be locked and moved to the Archives Board.
If you return and your application has been moved, please PM The Administrative Account and we will unlock, as well as replace, your application to it's former sub-board.
Character Creation must also be followed by a certain amount of Rules, which follow. Please also note, you are required to meet the minimum requirements set forth in the application template.
